At L&E Opinions, our members are the cornerstone of our business. Throughout 2023, we conducted focus groups to gain insight into our members’ perceptions of our company. During the studies, we asked participants to share what they enjoyed about L&E and what we could do better. The research process consisted of a five-minute survey with open-ended questions and follow up discussion groups of 5-6 participants moderated by a professional. Each discussion group lasted approximately 90 minutes.
Overall, we found that people enjoy taking part in research and feel their opinion is valued. Participants appreciate that we offer opportunities to earn extra income, allow them to help design products they use, and work with reputable brands and companies. However, some participants felt discouraged from engaging when they were infrequently chosen for research studies, faced lengthy screeners, or were asked for unexpected photo and video uploads. Others noted age cutoffs and past participation as areas of concern. After collecting feedback, we are excited to announce some of the actions we are taking and already have in development.
Members expressed the need for transparency in the screening process, including the time commitment and photo or video requirements of each screener. We plan to address this by providing estimated screener times and upfront notification of required photo uploads. We hope this will help our members better plan their time when choosing screeners to complete.
We recognize that our members value convenience and accessibility, which is why we are in the early development of our very own L&E Opinions mobile app. This will allow you to access all of your screeners in one place and streamline research opportunities. You will still be able to access your member portal via web browser, as some members expressed this is their preferred method of access.
Additionally, members shared that the process of completing screeners can be discouraging, especially when there is no guarantee of being selected for a study. We are thrilled to announce we are in our beta testing phase for a member rewards program. This means that for every study you qualify for, regardless of whether or not you are selected for participation, you will receive reward points which can eventually be turned in for virtual rewards, such as gift cards! We hope this will incentivize our members to continue engaging in our studies and feel valued for their time and effort. Look for more information on this coming soon!
